As I posted earlier, Bandung my hometown is a city full of beautiful, old buildings from the Dutch colonial era. One of such building is the Driekleur building.
Literally translated as "The Three Colours" and situated between Jalan Ir. H. Juanda and Sultan Agung, this was built by architect Aalbers for a wealthy Chinese merchant, but soon being taken over by Dutch government as a police station. Today, it's used by a national bank (BTPN) and more or less one year a go won an award from the Bandung Development Watch as one of the best example of modernizing a historical, heritage building building, but still left the historical elements in the building.
I took the liberty of modeling it with SketchUp, but since I don't have any detailed drawings of the building, it's all played with assumptions and educated guess. It's the approach I dared taking since many of old, colonial buildings have this amazingly accurate proportions and scale.
Yes, I know. It's still 'raw'. Hopefully I can finish the mapping anytime soon.
Good Modelling i think...
ReplyDeletelooks like the building has art nouveau styles because of its curve shape..

Hi! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI think you're right, the curvy facade owes to the Art Nouveau style, which is all the rage in those days.
Again, thanks for stopping by and commenting.
